Sometimes making something simple can be much more difficult than creating something complex in the design world. I went through and found these 20 sites that I think fall into the “minimalist” category, yet are still highly effective. Another reason a lot of these sites stand out is their typography. If you are planning a “minimalist” site you MUST have good typography or it will turn from being simple and professional to ugly and amateurish.

I love these designs, but I think a number of them are a bit too cramped and colorful to be considered minimalistic. But never mind, it’s a good selection.
#17 is my favorite, and to me – a great representative of the minimal style.

I’m not a big fan of minimalist web design but some of those are trully beautiful. Keep up the good work!

I love minimalism for its dramatic effect. Number 7 looks very smart. Number 20 – I wish that was my site!
Sometimes minimalism can get boring though – Do you think the serif font in black on a white background is nice or overused (as in #s 7, 8, 17, 18, 19)?
…I just redesigned my site to completely erase all clutter and confusion. It’s not a content-heavy site so minimalism works (I think!). Feedback is welcome – http://www.i-pointwebdesign.com. (Old site is at http://www.i-pointwebdesign.com/old).
