I will be trying something different today, and will be creating a post based on user comments which will primary be a list of names and sites. Oh and by the way Three Styles has now been bringing tutorials and resources to web designers for 2 months.
What is a Back-link?
Back-links are essentially incoming links to your site from another site.
Why get Back-Links?
They are massively important in the SEO world, because google thinks the more sites that are linking to you, the more important your site is. This can result in more traffic and a higher PageRank.
How to get a back-link on this post?

Nice looking site and nice idea for the backlinks – but they’re only of limited SEO value because there’s no anchor text.
For example, if you gave me a link (with no anchor text) to http://www.scratch99.com/ that would help me rank well for searches on http://www.scratch99.com/ which I’m going to rank well for anyway. If you gave me a link to the same site with the anchor text of “custom WordPress plugins”, then it would help me rank well for something that people may actually search.
There is some small benefit to any backlink gained (ie to PageRank which isn’t so important these days), but the real benefit is through backlinks with your keywords as anchor text.

Just a thought on Stephen Cronin’s comment. Have you considered doing a set number of back links, 10 maybe, but allowing each person to also post a short bio?
Perhaps this idea wasn’t as good as I first thought.
